Stepping stones are very necessary part of any landscape. They are being use for two purposes: to make a beautiful visual path, and are also a map leading to different particular parts. These type of work do need some number of stone it depends on the design and look you want to create but There are a few of issues with this. The first problem was the high cost. You may need at almost $200 just for stepping stones. The second problem that can occur is that after so much work or investment there are chances that you will not get the same look that you wanted in the last.. There are some very nice designs, but first you will have to be sure that the one you have selected will suit your theme.

You can make your own stepping stone and for that you are going to need some items such as a bag of mortar concrete, sealer powdered, cement color (3-5 complementing colors), chunk of recycled concrete, gloves, goggles, dust mask, clothing that conceals the skin (long sleeve shirt), a large paintbrush.

First thing is that you should find pieces of broken concrete, you will need them in very large amount, and they are in flat shape. You should keep the regular look of stone in mind. Do not take tension of the rough surface choose one which looks as same as possible. The surface will get smoother with coat of mortar.

Second thing that you can do is take a hose and spray and remove any dirt or debris that can stop the mortar from sticking to the concrete. A usual hose and nozzle setup that you normally use in your garden will do just very well; you can use a pressure washer, but is not essential. Concrete is going to need some time to absorb the water. The concrete should be to a little moisture but not dripping water. A little dampness will make it easier for mortar to stick to the concrete a lot better.

Chemicals in cement can irritate skin, cause rashes, and even allergic reactions in some people so better to use appropriate safety equipments when using cement-based products such as the Gloves, goggles, face masks, and skin protection. These are some of the items you must have to provide proper protection from the chemicals.

You will add the coat of mortar after the stone has sucked proper amount of water. You will mix the mortar in a wheelbarrow with the help of a shovel or hoe. Mixing tube and bucket can also work for mixing. You will need about a quarter of the bag into the wheelbarrow. Slowly add water until the mortar start getting dry play dough like consistency.

After that you will have to add color and texture in it, you will have to sprinkle as much color as you want and for texture you will dab the surface of the stone with brush. It the last you will need sealer that are in two forms matt or shiny, choose whatever you want.
